Water Treatment

Bio-Industrial Park Sarnia's world class biological waste water treatment plant (WWTP) has a capacity of 24,000 m3/day (7 millions U.S. gallons). The plant offers an environmentally friendly, cost effective service to treat contaminated process water and return it to the natural environment. Wastewaters can be received either by pipeline or tanker truck. The solids and/or oils are removed in the pre-treatment cells. The wastewater flows to the aeration tank where the acclimatized microorganisms break down the hydrocarbon chemicals. The wastewater then flows to clarifier tanks where floculent is added to remove suspended solids. The treated water is analyzed extensively to ensure it meets all Ontario Ministry of the Environment (MOE) standards before the cleaned water flows to the St. Clair River.
